Constantine 2: Possible release date, cast and story details

Keanu Reeves and Constantine

There is no release date for Constantine 2 because of the current status of the project. Although Keanu Reeves’ statement suggests that the long-awaited successor is not coming, it is still possible that Constantine 2 will, however, be officially green-lit, and could have a release date some years along the way – probably the summer of 2024 or later. The current status of the development is not known, but since Lawrence and Reeves have spoken together, it is possible Constantine 2 can happen quickly when (if) it is confirmed that it is on its way.

If Constantine 2 happens, Keanu Reeves will play John Constantine in the movie. He has expressed interest in playing the character again and he is already going back to a previous franchise by playing Neo again in Matrix 4. Peter Stormare is also likely to repeat his role as Lucifer. No other actors have teased their engagement. Other characters that could return include Shia LaBeouf, whose character Chas Kramer died in the original film but appears as an angel in a post-credit scene, Rachel Weisz, who plays Angela Dodson, or even Tilda Swinton, whose archangel character Gabriel was left to live life as mortal.

It is unclear what Constantine 2‘s story could be about, but the end of the original film sets several bows up, just as Angela pursues a career in the paranormal. Constantine 2 could also go in a completely different direction, with Constantine and Midnite (Djimon Hounsou) doing other research. With ample comic book material to draw on, the possibilities are innumerable.
