Andrew Garfield says he and Tobey Maguire filmed their Spider-Man: No Way Home parts in 2 weeks. Despite a short time frame, the results are meaningful.
According to Andrew Garfield, he and Toby Maguire were only on the set off Spider-Man: No Way Home In two weeks. Not even a month after the premiere of Marvel’s latest edition, fans continue to fable about Peter Parker’s return to the screen. No way homehuge success makes it responsible for 12% of all US box office revenue from 2021 and continues to dominate in cinemas and among fans with an overwhelmingly positive reception.
In 2020, rumors began to fly about what the next Spidey film would be about, promising not only Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker, MJ (Zendaya), Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), but also Jamie Foxx’s Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This sent fans into a speculative frenzy, and rumors and the hope that MCU’s Spider-Man would open Spider-Verse flourished. Garfield, who played Peter Parker in Sony’s restart in 2012, had repeatedly refused to be involved in No way home until the bitter end, but fans were convinced that this was not the case. However, after the film’s release in December 2021, the rumors turned out to be true. Garfield and Maguire, who played Peter Parker in Sam Raimi’s Spider Man trilogy, both repeated their roles to help the latest Peter Parker.
In an interview with VarietyGarfield says he and Maguire were only on the set for two weeks No way home‘s production. Despite the short time frame, Garfield is convinced that they put together something meaningful when there was potential for their performances to be superficial. Their appearance in MCU has a greater impact on Holland’s Spider-Man as he continues forward on his journey, while giving the alternative Peters the chance to reconcile their own past, as Gwen Stacy’s death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Read Garfield’s full comment below:
“We recorded for two weeks, Toby and I, but I think we managed to achieve something that is not just popping up and saying ‘Hey! Goodbye!’ My Spider-Man may need to save his younger brother’s romantic relationship. And to heal the most traumatic moment of his own life by doing so for his younger brother. To make sure he did not have the same fate, there is something cosmically beautiful about That meant getting another chance to save Gwen [Stacy]. “
Maguire and Garfield’s performance in the film, and more generally MCU, is impressive considering that the stars were not confirmed as part of the project until halfway through the filming schedule. No matter when they signed, the stars brought their A-game as they completed a large amount of footage in just two weeks. The two alternative Spider-Men arrive a little more than halfway through the film and are quite present from their arrival to their departure. With so little time, the depth and heart of the three Peter’s interactions make them feel as meaningful and fleeting as they were on screen.
There’s no telling what’s next for MCU’s Peter Parker after Spider-Man: No Way Home. His newly acquired knowledge of the multiverse can come in handy as the audience prepares three versions of Doctor Strange in Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness, but with his newly reborn identity, the world is Peter Parker’s oysters. Whatever is next for Peter Parker, it certainly comes with a greater understanding of the possibilities of what Spider-Man can become.
