Jharkhand: Marandi’s adviser released on bail in rape case

The Jharkhand High Court on Friday granted bail to Sunil Tiwary – political adviser to legislative party leader BJP Babulal Marandi – in an alleged rape case registered in August this year. According to court records, the alleged rape took place in March of last year and the case was registered on August 16 of this year. Tiwary was arrested in September.

Tiwary’s attorney and former state attorney general RS Mazumdar told The Indian Express: “Tiwary has been released on bail by the Jharkhand High Court. One of the main conditions is that he must not enter Jharkhand for six months unless he is called by an investigative body or a court. “

In previous submissions, Tiwary, in his requests for early bail and regular bail, argued that he was “innocent and had not committed any offense of any kind.”

According to court records, he argued that he had no criminal history and that there had been a delay in the case. “It is furthermore that the applicant was implicated in the present case wrongly due to political rivalries,” said the court record.
