If Navjot Singh Sidhu returns to the Kapil Sharma Show, I have plenty of other things to do: Archana Puran Singh

Ever since actor Archana Puran Singh replaced Navjot Singh Sidhu in The Kapil Sharma Show, the show’s comedians have been making jokes at his expense, claiming that Sidhu could come back recover his chair. Sidhu was sort of the original judge on Kapil’s show until he left for full-time politics. After Sidhu’s resignation as leader of the Punjab Congress, there was countless memes about his return to the show. Archana herself had shared a selection of memes that implied Archana was “more worried than Congress” at the moment, calling her “kissa kursi ka”.

When Archana was asked about Sidhu’s resignation and how it made her trendy, she said she didn’t take it seriously at all. She also mentioned that if Sidhu returned, it would give him space to take on his other commitments. She told The Times Of India: “It’s a joke that has been coming back to me for many years now. I don’t care and I don’t take it seriously at all. And if Sidhu seriously returned to the show in my place, I would have many other things to do, which I have refused in recent months.

Reacting to the constant refrain that she has nothing to do with the show other than laughing, she said, “The writers of the Kapil series come up with all kinds of jokes and I can’t help but laugh because they are funny. It’s a task to come up with gags every day and keep the show going for the past 10 years. But anyone who thinks that I have nothing to do in the show should come to the sets to see how easy it is to sit 6-7 hours in a particular position, facing the stage. I have to constantly sit at an angle for 4-7 hours on this couch and face the stage, listen to every joke that comes out, and then react to it. She praised The Kapil Sharma show and said she liked reacting to gags and making fun of herself.

Also starring Kiku Sharda, Bharti Singh, Krushna Abhishek, The Kapil Sharma Show airs on weekends.
