How to survive the cold in Dragonspine

Players who stay too long in cold areas like Dragonspine will start to take damage and perish. How to stay warm in Genshin Impact.

Since its launch Genshin impact the player base has explored every nook and cranny of the Teyvat region. Or, as far as the current gaming world expands to. While the size of this open world is impressive for a free game, it can not go on forever. That said, the developers plan to add more regions to the map over time and has begun making the Dragonspine mountain accessible.

Dragonspine is a massive frozen peak located between Mondstat and Liyue and can be seen in the distance from most views in the game. Now players can climb it for themselves, but there is a catch: The temperature is so freezing that anyone who enters the mountain will suffer from the sheer cold status effect. If explorers cannot find a heat source, they will be constantly damaged when the clean refrigerant meter is full.

The moment players set foot in the Dragonspine area, they will need to look for a heat source to avoid constant damage. Genshin impact players can look for campfires or use things like a hot water bottle or Ghoulash. Here’s how players can survive Sheer Cold in the Dragonspine area.

Heating in Genshin Impact

There are several resources on Dragonspine that players can use to lower their chill meters, most of which are some form of fire. They can be found along the main trails that stipulate the mountain trails, and are not that hard to find. That said, the easiest way to avoid freezing to death is to stay on these routes for as long as possible. Trying to find a shortcut up the mountain or off the beaten path is risky as there is no guarantee that there will be a heat source nearby to dampen the cold.

Bonfire

  • One would expect that characters with Pyro abilities will be able to light fires for heat, but unfortunately they can not. What they can do is light torches and bonfires scattered around the area. Fires under pots will also work, so campsites tend to be a safe place while exploring cold places.

Warmer Seelie

  • Players who have played Genshin impact are familiar with Seelies, blue cloth-like spirits that hover around and lead adventurers to treasure chests. The ones found on Dragonspire are known as Warming Seelies and have a colorful orange hue. Like a flame, these entities will provide warmth to those who follow them. Once they settle in their statue, they will permanently provide heat in that place, so note where they are for future reference.

Goulash

  • A new one cooking recipe introduced in the same update that brought Dragonspine is the solid goulash soup. Adventurers can get the recipe for it after completing “Ah, fresh meat!” mission in the Adventurer camp set up at the base of the mountain. All it takes is two chilled meats, two carrots and a tomato to create this cure for the cold. Ingesting it will reduce the amount of pure cold that builds up over time but not eliminate it directly. Still, it’s a great recipe that will help those who can make it.

Hot water bottle

  • The hot water bottle can reset the Sheer Cold meter completely, giving players more time to survive in the cold. To make a hot water bottle, players need to get theirs Frost-bearing wood for level four. Once players have reached level four, they unlock the hot water bottle and can make it using two flaming flower stamens and two star silver pieces.
