Ghost Rider 2 director wants Johnny Blaze to destroy Avengers in MCU

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance director Mark Neveldine says he would like to see Ghost Rider flame through The Avengers and “put them to waste.”

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance director Mark Neveldine says he would like to see Ghost Rider Destroy MCU Avengers. Neveldine directed the 2011 superhero sequel, produced under 20th Century Fox, which owned the rights at the time, bringing Nicolas Cage back as the titular character of Ghost Rider / Johnny Blaze. Cage first appeared as the character in 2007’s Ghost Rider from director Mark Steven Johnson (who also directed the Ben Affleck-led vovehals), who made decent enough box office to get a sequel green. Neveldine’s successor from 2011, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, starred Cage, Idris Elba, Ciarán Hinds and Christopher Lambert.

Unfortunately, Ghost Rider 2 was not exceptionally well received, nor did it make much profit, though many have come to see it as a bit of a cult classic since its debut. Ghost Rider later appeared Agents from SHIELD on ABC, which focused on a more recent iteration of the character, Robbie Reyes (as played by Gabriel Luna), who has another variation of the Ghost Rider curse that drives a car instead of a motorcycle. The character appeared in several episodes of the show, but has not appeared in live-action since. However, rumors continue that he will return, where Cage recently confirmed his love for Ghost Rider.

While talking to cartoonNeveldine was asked about his experience working on Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeancecomments on it “Johnny Blaze will continue to develop his legend” and quotes his positive experience of making the film and says that “Working with Nic Cage was better than you can imagine.” The director does not regret doing an R-rated version of Ghost Rider and has a very specific desire for what he would like to see Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider do in future appearances, and says, “Ghost Rider should blaze through the Avengers and put them to the push.

Nicolas Cage and Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider has had a wealth of characters since its creation in 1972, the first being Johnny Blaze. Other characters to wear Ghost Rider curse (or Spirit of Vengeance) includes Danny Ketch, Alejandra Jones, Robbie Reyes and Kushana, among others who took various forms such as the classic anti-hero. The character has typically been on his own, but in recent years has joined forces and even joined groups such as The Avengerswhich would potentially make it awkward if he were to flame through them as Neveldine wants.

Marvel Studios re-establishes their street-level superheroes at Disney +, where the darker Marvel / Netflix shows as Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and Iron fist is now housed. Knights of the Moon is set to debut this month as well, which is yet another MCU character in the darker corner of the universe who will continue to open the door to more characters of that caliber, i.a. Ghost Rider. Whether Marvel chooses to use Cage, Luna or start from scratch, it is very likely that Spirit of Vengeance will run again in MCU.
