England Rugby International allegedly ‘arrested on suspicion of rape’



An England rugby union player has been arrested on suspicion of raping a teenager, according to a report in Daily mail.

The newspaper said the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was detained Sunday after a report of an attack the day before.

mail also said a 41-year-old woman was remanded in custody on suspicion of having administered a drug with intent to cause a sexual assault. Both individuals have been released on bail while police continue their investigation.

Rugby Football Union was contacted by I but said they do not comment on police cases.

The newspaper did not specify the force handling the cases, but quoted a police spokesman as saying, “Officers were called shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, for a report of a sexual assault on a woman.

“A woman in her late teens was reported to have been sexually assaulted.

“A man was arrested on suspicion of rape and a woman was arrested on suspicion of having administered a substance with intent to cause a sexual assault.

“Both have since been released on bail as the investigation continues and a series of investigation lines are being followed up by detectives.”
