Nani writes emotional post after watching Sai Dharam Tej’s Republic: “Deva Katta’s announcement that he’s back”

Nani watched a special screening of Sai Dharam Tej’s latest film Republic, which is set to hit theaters this Friday. Blown away by the film, the star praised Tej and director Deva Katta. “Republic under surveillance. For all the kindness that @IamSaiDharamTej has shown to everyone around him, it has come back in the form of your prayers and it is coming back stronger in the form of #REPUBLIC. This is @devakatta’s announcement that he’s back. Congratulations to the team (sic), “he wrote on his Twitter account.

Aside from Nani, others who watched Republic ahead of its theatrical release have called this film Deva Katta’s best work since her 2010 family drama Prasthanam. “Republic is @devakatta’s new Prasthanam. I’m just blown away by what I saw last night @IamSaiDharamTej, the best ever. The #Republic is beyond politics and a journey that everyone must experience. I’m hungover and waiting to hear from you all. @aishu_dil Woman bowing deeply @meramyakrishnan @IamJagguBhai (sic), ”musician Smita tweeted.

Republic is a high-tension political drama. Judging by the trailer, the film seems to revolve around the efforts of an honest IAS officer to defend the basic principles of the Indian pursuit. The trailer also shows the character of Tej standing up to corrupt politicians, who want to organize a riot for their personal agenda. Besides Tej, Republic also stars Aishwarya Rajesh, Jagapathi Babu, among others.

The film will be released on schedule, although Tej is still recovering from the injuries he sustained in a traffic accident earlier this month. At the film’s pre-release event, Tej Pawan Kalyan’s uncle in an emotional outburst revealed that Tej was still in a coma.

Gopichand Seetimaarr
The actor of Seetimaarr Gopichand: it’s a sports film mixed with commercial elements

Gopichand’s latest actor, Seetimaarr, marks the actor’s second collaboration with director Sampath Nandi after Goutham Nanda (2017). The film with Tamannaah Bhatia in a leading role revolves around kabaddi. It started filming in December 2019, but suffered delays due to the pandemic.

With the cinemas open again, the creators released Seetimaarr on Vinayaka Chathurthi. On the occasion of the film’s release, Gopichand interacted with the media. Excerpts:

How did Seetimaarr’s journey begin?

When we decided to work together again, director Sampath Nandi told a story against the backdrop of education, but it wasn’t impressive enough. A month later he made up the story of Seetimaarr which had all the commercial elements. I liked it and it marked my first sports film.

What is the particularity of this film?

Few Telugu films have been made on Kabaddi apart from Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu and Kabaddi Kabaddi. What sets us apart is that Seetimaarr has a female kabaddi team at its heart. It is also a new attempt for me. I think Seetimaarr is a sports genre film mixed with commercial elements.

How did it go with Tamannaah?

Seetimaarr is my first film with Tamannaah Bhatia. We were supposed to do a few projects earlier, but they never materialized. In Seetimaarr, she plays the coach of the women’s kabaddi team of Telangana. He is a bold and strong character.

What do you think of the release of films directly to the OTT?

I like to watch movies in the cinema. The experience we have in a theater is very unique. But I think the future of OTT is bright and provides an additional platform for filmmakers.

Tell us about your upcoming projects?

Pakka Commercial is in the final stage of its shooting. After that, I will join the sets of the film Sriwass.

Nani Tuck Jagadish
Tuck Jagadish star Nani: nothing can replace big screen entertainment

Actor Nani, who has been a staunch supporter of theatrical films, ironically became the only Telugu star whose two films were released direct to streaming. His highly anticipated family drama, Tuck Jagadish, sparked an argument when its producers decided to opt for a direct release on OTT. Director Shiva Nirvana was released on Amazon Prime Video on September 10. Nani spoke about the streaming release and the film in a media interaction. Excerpts:

How did your journey for Tuck Jagadish start?

Shiva Nirvana called me to tell a story and I was in the phase where I wanted to do something beyond love dramas. His film turned out to be an intense subject and I immediately hooked. Shiva handles relationships quite well in his films.

Tell us why the title of the film is Tuck Jagadish?

The film explains this in the second half. I can’t reveal it at the moment, but it will connect with everyone.

What should we expect from the characters of Ritu Varma and Aishwarya Rajesh?

Although the film is a complex family drama, Ritu’s Gummadi Varalakshmi the character is like a cool breeze in the story, and Aishwarya Rajesh’s Chandramma is the backbone of the storytelling process.

What kind of friction will the film have with the role of Jagapathi Babu?

Bose (played by Jagapathi Babu) and Tuck Jagadish (Nani) are the two characters who lead this drama. The complexity between these two characters feels like a tug-of-war, and she was superbly handled by Shiva Nirvana.

It looks like you’ve taken the serious roles lately.

As an actor, I want to make all kinds of films and characters. I should also test my abilities and reinvent myself. I can promise you that you’ll see a whole new Nani as an actor from now on. My next films Ante Sundaraniki and Shyam Singha Roy will prove it.

What’s your take on OTT vs theaters?

An OTT is a great platform for watching different types of content. It also has massive reach and has inspired a shift in audience preferences. It is also making us our game in terms of creating quality content. On top of that, it has become an alternative platform for filmmakers to release their films in pandemic situations. However, I firmly believe that nothing can replace entertainment on the big screen.

Tell us about your home production projects?

Currently, HIT 2 is in production with Adivi Sesh in the lead. We plan to expand HIT into a full franchise. We have already completed 70 percent of its filming. We’ve finished filming Meet Cute and are planning it for a direct OTT release. As a producer, I am proud of both films.

What is the status of Ante Sundaraniki?

We’re currently in the film’s third schedule, and it’s shaping up to be pretty good.
