Security forces launched a cordon and search operation on Monday evening in Tulran, in the Imamsahab neighborhood of Shopian, in South Kashmir, after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, said a police official.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired on the forces search team, which retaliated.
