Mumbai man detained for killing his son

Vashi government railway police arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly killing his four-year-old son by bumping his head on the platform at Sanpada station on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Sakalsingh Haridas Pawar. He allegedly committed the crime because of a fight with his second wife, police said.

The family stays under the Sanpada Bridge and earns a living doing odd jobs and begging.

Police say the incident happened around 9 a.m. on Monday, when the family came to beg at Sanpada station. The accused beat his son and threw him to the ground, killing him in the process, police said.

“He told us that he committed the offense in a fit of rage while fighting with this second wife. We arrested the accused and the FIR was registered based on the complaint filed by his brother. We are checking if he has a criminal record, ”said a police officer.
