As India nears the milestone of the upcoming administration of 100 crore doses of Covid vaccine, the government of Gujarat has plans to celebrate the occasion with various vaccine awareness programs across the state.
Senior Minister Jitu Vaghani announced on Wednesday during a media briefing following the weekly state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Vaghani said the task of administering 100 crore vaccine doses will be completed within a day or two; especially tomorrow, and various programs will be held across the state. Primary health centers, community health centers, Covid vaccination centers and offices of district collectors and district panchayats will be decorated with rangolis and flower decorations in government offices. The programs will run under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, Vaghani said.
Vaghani also said that efforts will also be made to track down and inspire those who have so far not taken doses of the vaccine.
“Those (health workers) who did the best job will also be commended and preparations for the same have been made by the health department,” Vaghani said.
The Gandhinagar unit of Gujarat BJP on Wednesday released its manifesto for the upcoming elections to the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation. The party called the manifesto its Sankalp Siddhi Patra (Resolution and Achievement Document).
Voting for the 44-seat election in 11 GMC constituencies is scheduled for October 3.
If elected to power, the party has promised that its leaders will meet with people to resolve their issues twice a week at a designated location in the respective neighborhoods.
The manifesto also promises a wastewater treatment plant of 65 MLD for the city in addition to the installation of underground garbage cans.
The party also pledged to quickly complete the recruitment process for various positions within GMC.
Quoting Secretary General Rajni Patel, the statement said: “Gandhinagar is benefiting greatly from the development trip launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The city of Gandhinagar is part of the constituency of the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, and therefore he is continually striving for its development.
The government of Gujarat has ordered local commerce, enterprises and commercial establishments under the purview of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation and other local bodies that go to the polls to grant vacations to their employees on October 3 so that they can ‘they can exercise their franchise.
The State Election Commission has scheduled polls for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, Okha Municipality (Devbhoomi Dwarka District and Thara Municipality (Banaskantha District) on October 3.
On the same day, the midterm polls for the municipality of Bhanwad (Devbhoomi Dwarka) and the indirect votes for three seats of the municipal society of Ahmedabad (2 seats), the municipal society of Junagadh (one seat), 45 seats of 29 municipalities, eight seats of seven district panchayat and 48 seats of 41 taluka panchayats, will also be held simultaneously.
