“BJP advisers generated fake pensions”: AAP calls for investigation into SDMC pension case
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj called for an investigation into the alleged scam in which several poverty pensions were “generated by the BJP-led MCDs on behalf of people who are not not alive ”.
The request was made in the context of a recent statement made by the commissioner of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) in which he said that an investigation into Lokayukta had been launched in some cases of wrongly awarded pensions to people. He was referring to cases where pensions have been paid on behalf of people who are not alive.
The civic organization grants a pension of Rs 1,000 per month to these categories – for bedridden, transgendered, divorced, widowed and disabled.
Bhardwaj alleged that BJP advisers generated bogus pensions for their people. “Legal action should be taken against advisers who have committed fraud,” he said.
The beneficiaries are recommended by the councilor of each district. Councilors of civic bodies are empowered to sanction around 400 pensions in their respective districts. There are 104 neighborhoods in the MCD Sud.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said there was no difference in the poverty pensions distributed by MCD South.
The leaders of the Aam Aadmi party are used to lying, the allegations are raised by the leaders of the AAP with a political motive of blocking the distribution of pensions during the festive months to embarrass beneficiaries and politically harm the BJP, a he declared.
SDMC pension data is fully transparent and if a survey is needed, there should be a survey of all pensions distributed as per MLA recommendations, as most of it is donated to AAP family volunteers. , did he declare.
