Bill Murray says he plays a villain in a new Marvel movie

Ghostbusters: Afterlife star BIll Murray tells Eli Manning that his superpower in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is “I’m a bad guy”.

Bill Murray says he plays a villain in Ant-Man 3. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly return to headline the third MCU movie with shrinking superheroes Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Plot details about Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (as it is officially known) is, of course, shrouded in the same impenetrable veil of secrecy that surrounds everything MCU-related. But at least one interesting piece of information about the film leaked out when Murray recently let it slip that he has been cast to perform. No confirmation has yet been received Admire Murray’s casting and when asked about the matter, Rudd himself was completely evasive.

It’s hard to imagine Murray would invent a false casting rumor about himself, so there’s no reason to doubt that he really is in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. In any case, Murray goes on to say that he is in the movie, and during a recent appearance, he even let out another possible detail about his character, saying on Eli Manning Show that his superpower in the movie is that he is a “bad guy”. Whether this represents a true revelation or is merely a case of Murray clowning around, of course, cannot be determined with any certainty.

If Murray actually plays a villain in Ant-Man 3, so Kevin Feige and company deserve a pat on the back as it would certainly represent a big coup for them to convince the notoriously eccentric actor to take on such a role in an MCU film. Murray is obviously known for playing good guys in movies like Ghostbusters and its latest successor Ghostbusters: Afterlife, though even when he plays a main character, his clever attitude tends to steer things more towards the sarcastically jerky and even anti-heroic. The seedy Ernie McCracken in Kingpin velsagtens stands as the most memorable of all Murray’s flat villains, though there’s also Frank Milo in Crazy dog and glory and Carson Welch ind Aloha.

What specific villain Murray might be playing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is obviously a matter of pure speculation. Of course Kang Conquer, a frequent Marvel-bad guy, is already known for starring in the film with Jonathan Majors repeating his Loki role. Murray’s character would presumably be a secondary villain, possibly connected in some way to Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym. No matter who Murray plays, there is no doubt that his particular comic sensitivity fits well with the generally disrespectful humor mentioned in Ant man movie. And it would certainly be fun to see Murray and Rudd reunite after they both showed up Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Hopefully there will be some real confirmations soon Ant-Man 3 and even a trailer.
